Preparation of an application for a Eurogrant planned for implementation under the Horizon Europe Programme
Anfinity sp. z o.o. is implementing a project co-financed by the European Funds entitled: “Preparation of an application for a Eurogrant planned for implementation under the Horizon Europe Programme”.
What is the objective of the project?
The objective of the project is to prepare complete application documentation, analyses and technical assumptions for a research and development project planned under the HORIZON-CL3-2027-02-CS-ECCC-02 “Secure Computing Continuum (IoT, Edge, Cloud, Data spaces)” call and concerning a Secure Edge Node + Zero-Trust Policy Fabric + Privacy-Preserving Telemetry demonstrator for the Secure Computing Continuum environment, covering IoT/OT, Edge, Cloud and Data Spaces.
Who are the target groups?
The target groups include, in particular, enterprises, operators of digital and industrial infrastructure, technology providers and organisations using IoT/OT environments, edge computing, cloud computing and data spaces.
What is the scope of the project?
As part of the preparation of the Eurogrant, the project will include in particular:
- preparation of the application documentation, including the project concept, reference architecture, R&D scope, work plan, milestones, indicators, resources and risks;
- development of the “Secure Edge Node” architecture assumptions as a reference configuration of a mini-server or router operating in a virtual machine or container environment, equipped with mechanisms for policy enforcement and traffic control, configuration hardening, updates, rollback and local event buffering;
- preparation of a portable zero-trust security policy model covering identity and access management, cross-domain authentication, microsegmentation of IoT/OT environments, the principle of least privilege, outbound traffic rules, privileged access, retention and audit;
- development of a mechanism for distributing and enforcing security policies between the edge and cloud layers;
- development of privacy-preserving telemetry assumptions using signals, aggregates, features and alerts instead of full event logs, taking into account pseudonymisation, purpose limitation, data retention and privacy-enhancing technologies;
- preparation of a solution validation methodology, including security, interoperability, stability and performance test scenarios and methods for measuring quantifiable result indicators;
- development of assumptions for 2–3 pilots enabling assessment of the solution in different application environments and demonstrating a measurable improvement in security and interoperability;
- preparation of the required elements concerning data management, security, ethics, dissemination of results, exploitation of results and intellectual property rights.
What will be the result of the project?
The result of the project will be a complete Eurogrant application, ready for submission and meeting the formal and substantive requirements of the Horizon Europe Programme in terms of excellence, impact, and the quality and efficiency of implementation.
What are the expected outcomes of the subsequent work?
The planned solution will enable local enforcement of security policies and event processing close to the data source, reducing the need to transmit complete information to the cloud environment. At the same time, it will provide mechanisms for microsegmentation, access control, identity management, auditing and secure information exchange between individual infrastructure layers.
The expected outcomes of subsequent work will include, among other things, architecture specifications and models, a software demonstrator, deployment images, infrastructure as code, operational procedures, a threat model, security and performance test reports, mechanisms ensuring traceability of changes and configurations, and a deployment replication scheme. The solution may also include readiness for the use of post-quantum cryptography for communication between the edge and cloud layers, as well as mechanisms supporting auditability and compliance.
